Nepal Education Programmes

Our Education Programmes

Moving Mountains Nepal has built two primary schools in Bupsa and Bumburi and provides teachers salaries, books and educational equipment for all the classrooms.

Back in the 1990s and early 2000s, the education standards in this area were quite low. The schools were small, run down, and children often had to walk long distances to attend. Parents, seeking better educational opportunities for their children, moved away from the villages, sometimes all the way to Kathmandu.

Since the early 2000s, Moving Mountains Nepal has worked with the people of Bupsa and Bumburi to help them reclaim their educational facilities and improve the standard of education in their villages.

Through our work, we have seen huge benefits to all of the people living in this region. Families are returning to the area, villagers are proud of their educational facilities, and more children are attending the schools.

Bupsa Primary School

Teachers and children alike at Bupsa Primary School have benefitted hugely from Moving Mountains involvement in the area.

Bumburi Primary School

Bumburi Primary School has benefited hugely from Moving Mountains involvement. The school has not only been fully renovated but has doubled in size and now caters for primary and secondary school age.

Ng’aroni Primary School

Moving Mountains is working in partnership with Ng'aroni School and the local community to build the school buildings and support the teachers for this rural school which is on the lower slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro.

Focusing on Primary Education in Nepal

Over the past 20 years we have increased the size and capacity of these two primary schools. Moving Mountains pays for ten teachers and the children have now got a long term consistent level of educational support and teaching which has enabled them to attain their grades and go into tertiary level education in some cases.
