Nyasidhi Primary School
Before the Moving Mountains Trust involvement, Nyasidhi Primary School was at the bottom of the regional academic performance tables. But since the refurbishment and developing an effective school management and committee Nyasidhi is now one of the top five, with a growing school population of over 400 children!
Overview
Since 2002 we have worked closely with the school committee and the local community to increase the level of education and support given to both the children and the committee and to continually improve the school facilities.
As a result of this partnership we have built eight classrooms, a surrounding fence, a water borehole and pump, provided the children with school uniforms and textbooks and we have funded the salaries of several teachers.
History of the Project
2002 – Moving Mountains began providing funds for the school to refurbish eight old classrooms and provide all the resources such as desks and chairs.
2005 – Moving Mountains assisted in paying for teachers before government funding enabled the school to pay for this themselves.
2006 – Moving Mountains starting sinking a borehole at the school, however, the water table was too deep to reach with current tools and therefore the project was postponed for a year and then it was completed.
